Vihiga is situated in the eastern part of Kakamega Forest. The town has Maragoli tribe in the region. Vihiga is renowned for the bull fighting. Vihiga is famous for the shrines and the steps of God which are the places of theological and spiritual significance. Vihiga has the dense equatorial forest which by virtue of the impenetrable canopy of the trees does not allow the sunlight to penetrate. The forests also boast of a wide spectrum of flora and fauna.
