Situated in the Western part of the country, Eldoret is a town which is popular among tourists. The natural beauty of the region makes traveling to Eldoret really enjoyable.
Eldoret has got a wonderful geographical location and falls in the Uasin Gishu district in the Rift Valley province. The Rift Valley in itself one of the greatest tourist attraction not only in Kenya but ins entire Africa. Traveling to Eldoret becomes more enjoyable as people get a very close and clear view of the Rift valley. But apart from Rift valley there are several other factors that creates interest among people for traveling in Eldoret.
The small but beautiful town is situated at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level and to the South of Cherangani Hills, which is also an important tourist attraction in the Western part of Kenya. The Sosiani river, on which Eldoret is based is also a reason behind traveling to Eldoret. The town has got its name from the word 'Eldore' which means 'stony river' as it is based on the very stony bed of Sosiani river. In the recent times several hotels and restaurants have come up in the region and different modes of transportation have also been introduced which have made traveling to Eldoret easier.
