Traveling in Keiyo (Iten, Tambach)

Traveling in Keiyo is a. special feature of the travel to Kenya. The overall condition in this region has improved much more than what it was previously. The government of Kenya has made special efforts in the areas like Tugen, Marakwet and Keiyo. The aim of the government is to provide a glorious boost to the development of the backward regions of the country. Traveling in Keiyo will be made more attractive in the coming days.
Despite all the odds, the government plans to introduce new process to relieve land dispute through the electronic commerce method. These are done through PGIS, backward communities in Keiyo and Marakwet who have put in substantial developmental process to recover the country from total backwardness.

From the map of Keiyo we find that the administrative boundaries have been set up in the following places of Kenya. These are as follows:
  • Keiyo
  • Elgon
  • Garissa
  • Uashi Gishu
  • Malava
  • Bungoma
  • Laikipia
Iten is a town located in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It is situated in the midst of Eldorate and Kabarnet. Elgeyo Escarpment and Kerio River are situated on the Eastern part of Iten. There is an Iten/ Tambach administrative body located with Tambach, a smaller town located in and around the vicinity. Thus Iten/ Tambach combination is rated as the capital city of Keiyo district.

Keiyo is the district town of the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The formation of the Keiyo district took place in the year 1994. Around that time, Elgeyo/ Marakwet district was bisected into two parts, such as Elgeyo/ Marakwet and the other part is Marakwet. Elgeyo tribe dominates the Elgeyo/ Marakwet area.

During the travel to Keiyo and Marakwet areas, the tourists will have the privilege to have glimpses of some of the local tribal groups. These are as follows:
  • Kapchemutwa
  • Irong
  • Mutei
  • Rokocho
  • Tumeiyo
  • Metkei
There are full solidarity and friendship still existing among all tribal groups. Among the farming music and dance seemed popular among the tribal communities. Now some of the prominent local groups claiming to be the representative of the people are aiming to provide transparency in Keiyo.
